This year the Earth Hour is on March 31 PM 8:30-9:30. This event is scheduled for the last weekend in March as this is around the time of the Spring and Autumn equinoxes in the northern and southern hemi-spheres respectively, which allows for near coincidental sunset times in both hemispheres, thereby ensuring the greatest visual impact for a global ‘lights out’ action.
The Earth Hour is a call to action for every individual, business and community throughout the world, to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the global journey to a sustainable future. As you know our planet is in danger. It is time for us to act.
Taking the first step is as easy as turning off your lights. It doesn’t mean you should turn off all your lights. Earth Hour only asks that you turn off non-essential lighting. We are encouraged be part of this global action by switching off our lights, as well as making a commitment to go beyond the hour with a long-term behavioral change.
How to protect our earth, are you ready? Here are some suggestions for you.
1. Go to work by bike if the workplace is not far away from where you live. As you know, the gas released by the car is harmful.
3. Look after reserves of water by making sure you turn off the faucet after use and by repairing leaks and drips.
4. Turn off the light when you leave.
