Super-Speed USB 3.0 PCI-E Adapter Card for Desktop PC

USB 3.0 has been floating around as a tempting prospect for a long while. Everyone knows USB 2.0 is past being a great way of connecting devices to PCs. The demands for bandwidth from high definition video, gaming and many other applications means it is time to move on.

USB 3.0 is up to ten times faster than USB 2.0 in theory (about 3 times faster in reality with present drivers) and there finally are some great devices on the market that make use of this new data transfer protocol. New external hard disc drives, for example, with USB 3.0 on board and fast write speeds cut data backup times by around 70 percent. A 25 GB movie can be transferred from one hard drive to another in less than 3 minutes with USB 3.0. USB 2.0 can’t do it better than 12 minutes.

USB 3.0 is also faster than Firewire and SATA 3. An extra advantage is superior power management of devices (e.g. automatically switching them to sleep mode when not needed) and a big enough supply of current so that devices like hard drives no longer need independant power supplies.

There are also the exciting new technologies just around the corner like 3D gaming and full size high definition movies that will make USB 3.0 ports essential hardware on any computer.

The problem is that there are not many PCs which are being shipped with USB 3.0 onboard. So if you want to take advantage of this new technology now, you are going to need a USB 3.0 PCI-E adapter card for a desktop or an USB 3.0 ExpressCard for a laptop. That is, if you have a desktop PC, you can upgrade to your PC to USB 3.0 using a PCI-Express card. Given you have a free PCI slot in your machine, you can add a USB 3.0 port connector to that slot and voilà, and then you can have USB 3.0 ports at the back of your computer. All you need is a USB 3.0 PCI-E card.

USB 3.0 is Backwards Compatible with USB 2.0

All USB 3.0 ports will accept USB 2.0 connections. The USB 2.0 plug is shorter than the USB 3.0 plug and the pins will only engage with the USB 2,0 connectors, making it pretty much foolproof.

First of all I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I’ve had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips? Thank you!
