Samsung lately announced its expectations that it would sell more than 1 million Samsung Galaxy tablet PCs all over the world in 2010, indicating that Apple may not dominate this market exclusively by its iPads.
Samsung is confident of meeting the 1 million sales mark this year as consumers have shown keen interest in Galaxy tablets, though the products were launched a little bit later than planned, said Shin Jong-kyun, head of the Samsung Mobile Division.
Samsung Galaxy adopts the Google Android operating system, which has been expected to defeat Apple’s operating system in the smart cellphone market some time, according to other reports. On the other hand, Samsung provides Apple with microprocessor chips for iPhone 4 and iPad, and such deals help enlarge Samsung’s profits to a considerable extent.
As Apple is quite happy on the global smartphone market, Samsung is also making efforts. Mr. Shin said that his company planned to sell 40 million smartphones in 2011, and the sales goal for this year was lifted from 18 million to 20 million.
